Care and Supervision of Students

Supervision  Before School

A reminder to all students and their parents that supervision before school is available from 8.30am.  No teacher is rostered in the playground until this time.  Parents are requested not to send their children to school prior to this time.

Before school supervision is restricted to the main quadrangle and basketball court areas.  Students should not leave the school under any circumstances at this time.

Removal of Children

We regard our school as a safe haven for children.  Any person who wishes to take a child from school during school hours should send a note or report in person to the clerical office.  This procedure is to protect children from wrongful removal or abduction.

If a child leaves school without permission we will endeavor to contact parents.  If the parents or the designated emergency contact cannot be located the police may be informed that the child has left the school premises.

Custody of Children

The school should be advised in writing of any special or unusual custody arrangements concerning children.  If a divorce has occurred, a family is split, or one parent is denied access to a child, this type of information should be passed on to the school where it will be treated in strict confidence.

Parents are requested to advise the school of any changes to custody arrangements.

Supervision on Excursions

The Department of Education and Training has specific requirements relating to the organisation of excursions and sporting visits away from the school premises.  Parents will receive a package of permission notes, excursion details, medical information form and, where relevant, permission to travel by private vehicle.  It is essential that these requirements are adhered to as they protect the welfare and safety of students.
