What is Assessment and why is it Important?

Assessment is the process by which your teachers gather information about your learning.  Commonly, it involves tests, assignments, research projects, exams etc.  The main purpose of assessment is to provide information about your achievement, level of understanding and progress for reporting to you, your parents, employers and the Board of Studies.  Assessment information is also useful to teachers to measure the progress of all students for ongoing teaching and learning.
